Tip: Make sure you don’t press too hard on the paper when you draw your pencil lines so that you can correct your mistakes with an eraser as you go through the tutorial.
The first step is drawing the outline of the banana with light pencil marks so you can use an eraser if you get it wrong.
Start by drawing a medium oval shape.
Use darker pencil marks to draw two curved lines and connect them at the bottom and top of the oval.
A. Draw the first curved line on the top.
B. Then draw the second line on the bottom.
Now you can erase any unwanted pencil marks.
A. Start by drawing a small straight vertical line just below the middle of the banana.
Draw two curved lines starting from the vertical line, one from the top and one from the middle. Make the lines meet at a point by curving them.
B. Then repeat the process by connecting another straight line to the vertical line. Make the line the same length but point the line towards 2 o’clock
Then draw two lines curving to the right of the straight line, one from the top and one from the middle. Again, make the lines meet at a point by curving them.
C. Draw two more curved lines on the opposite end of the previous two curved lines.
D. Outline all of the lines with darker pencil marks.
A. Draw two small lines at the bottom of your banana to create a stem. Then join them together with a small line.
B. Draw a small circle at the bottom edge to finish the stem.
Add some shading to create darker areas for a more realistic look.
A. Draw some fine vertical lines on the bottom left side of the main body of your banana.
B. Draw some more fine lines in the opposite direction and smudge the pattern with your finger to create a softer texture.
Add more shading with fine lines to the banana skin and add several thin lines inside your banana to create more detail and texture.
Add some lines to the inside of the banana skin.
Draw some smaller lines on the inside of the skin of your banana to give it a more 3 dimensional and realistic look.
There you have it. Now you know how to create a banana drawing step by step!
