Are you ready? Let’s get started!
The collage above shows each step of the process so you know what your fox drawing should look like at each stage.
Tip: Make sure you don’t press too hard on the paper when you draw your pencil lines so that you can correct your mistakes with an eraser as you go through the tutorial.
Start with a medium oval shape for your fox’s body. Use a light pencil stroke and make sure it has a smooth outline.
Add a smaller oval, on top of the oval shape you just drew, still using a light pencil stroke.
Add a long, curved line at the back of the fox’s body for the tail. Then draw another curved line and attach it to the first curved line creating a point at the end of the tail.
Add two small triangles on top of the head. Then, draw a small vertical line on the body just above the tail with two tiny lines at the end to create front legs.
Use a darker pencil stroke to outline your drawing on the left and right-hand sides, to connect the head with the body.
Add a curved line inside each triangle to finish off the ears.
Draw two tiny lines in the middle of the face.
Draw a small U-letter shape and connect it with the eyebrows.
Draw a small oval shape inside of the U letter you just created in Step 10.
Draw two small ovals just below the eyebrows for your fox’s eyes. Use your pencil to shade the eyes.
Now erase the pencil from the main part of the body that attaches to the tail.
To create the fur, start by adding lots of small lines around the outline of your fox and also on the ear lines.
Then add slightly darker pencil lines to the outline of the tail and add lots of short lines to the tail.
Draw a few small lines on each side of the nose to create whiskers.
Draw a few horizontal lines at the bottom of your fox to create a ground effect.
There you have it. Your very own fox drawing.
Don’t worry if your fox drawing isn’t perfect the first time, the more you practice the better you will get!
Who knows, soon foxes can become your favorite animal to draw!
