  • A pencil

How to Draw a Fox Step by Step

In this blog post, we will teach you how to draw a fox sitting.

We will go through the step-by-step process of drawing a fox so that you can easily follow along.

You’ll start by sketching out the basic shapes and lines. Then, you’ll add in the details like the fur, the eyes, and the tail.

Tip: Make sure you don’t press too hard on the paper when you draw your pencil lines so that you can correct your mistakes with an eraser as you go through the tutorial.

Step 1: Draw the Fox’s Body

Start with a medium oval shape for your fox’s body. Use a light pencil stroke and make sure it has a smooth outline.

Step 2: Draw the Fox’s Head

Add a smaller oval, on top of the oval shape you just drew, still using a light pencil stroke.

Step 3: Draw the Fox’s Tail

Add a long, curved line at the back of the fox’s body for the tail. Then draw another curved line and attach it to the first curved line creating a point at the end of the tail.

Step 4: Draw the Fox’s Ears and Fox’s Legs

Add two small triangles on top of the head. Then, draw a small vertical line on the body just above the tail with two tiny lines at the end to create front legs.

Step 5: Connect the Head with the Body

Use a darker pencil stroke to outline your drawing on the left and right-hand sides, to connect the head with the body.

Step 6: Draw Details Inside the Ears

Add a curved line inside each triangle to finish off the ears.

Step 7: Draw the Fox’s Eyebrows

Draw two tiny lines in the middle of the face.

Step 8: Add Details to the Face

Draw a small U-letter shape and connect it with the eyebrows.

Step 9: Draw the Fox’s Nose

Draw a small oval shape inside of the U letter you just created in Step 10.

Step 10: Draw the Fox’s Eyes

Draw two small ovals just below the eyebrows for your fox’s eyes. Use your pencil to shade the eyes.

Step 11: Erase the Pencil

Now erase the pencil from the main part of the body that attaches to the tail.

Step 12: Add the Fur

To create the fur, start by adding lots of small lines around the outline of your fox and also on the ear lines.

Then add slightly darker pencil lines to the outline of the tail and add lots of short lines to the tail.

Step 13: Draw the Fox’s Whiskers

Draw a few small lines on each side of the nose to create whiskers.

Step 14: Add the Floor

Draw a few horizontal lines at the bottom of your fox to create a ground effect.
