  • A piece of paper
  • A pencil
  • An eraser

Tip: Make sure you don’t press too hard on the paper when you draw your pencil lines so that you can correct your mistakes with an eraser as you go through the tutorial.

Step 1: Draw the Squid’s Body

Draw a long oval shape for the body using a light pencil stroke.

Step 2: Draw the Squid’s Head

Draw a smaller oval next to the long one.

Step 3: Connect the Head with the Body

Using a darker pencil stroke, draw two curved lines, one on the right side and another on the left side, and connect them at the end.

Step 4: Draw the Tentacles

Draw two long and wavy lines extending from each of the two lines you just drew.

Step 5: Draw More Tentacles

Continue to add more tentacles between those you just drew, but this time shorter and thicker.

Step 6: Draw the Eyes

Draw two small circles inside the head. Then add two smaller circles inside the one you just drew and shade it in for more detailed eyes.

Step 7: Erase the Pencil Marks

Erase any unwanted pencil marks.

Step 8: Add Interesting Features

Add interesting features such as suction cups, curved lines, and small circles to give your squid drawing more detail.

Draw several circles for the cups. Then add two tiny lines for the eyebrows and two tiny lines under the eyes for the wrinkles. You can also add a few small dots to the face for more details.

Step 9: Add Shading

A. Add shading to bring your squid drawing to life.

B. Add more small lines and dots to the body to complete your squid drawing.
