Draw a medium oval shape using light lines.
Draw a long curved line at the bottom of your oval using a darker pencil mark.
The next step is to draw the middle and the top of your onion.
Draw two curved lines and connect those with the bottom part. This should create an upside-down light bulb shape.
Now you can erase any unwanted pencil marks.
Draw a zigzag-shaped line on the top of your onion.
Now you can draw two curved lines that join at the top for each leaf.
Draw two small vertical lines coming out of the bottom of the onion, and then connect those lines with a zigzag-shaped line in the middle.
Now that you have finished drawing your onion, you can give it more depth and realism by adding some shading and texture.
A. Draw a few small curved vertical lines inside of the bottom section of your onion to give the onion a 3 dimensional look.
B. Draw some fine lines coming out of the left side of the main body of your onion.
C. Draw some more lines in the opposite direction to create a criss-cross pattern.
D. Repeat this process with the leaves on the top, then smudge the criss-cross pattern with your finger to create a softer shaded texture.
E. Draw a few vertical lines across your onion. The lines should follow the shape of the onion to create a more realistic 3-dimensional effect.
